Girlhood - Homework part 2

Read through the Sight and Sound article below - focussing on the following parts of the article:


  • Intro page (p21)
  • Minority report (pp22 and 23 up to 'A Blast of Fresh Air')
  • Feminising the Film de Banlieue (pp26 & 27)
  • Youth in Revolt (pp27)
  • Girls in the Hood (pp28-29)

Make notes on each of these sections and bring them to your next Urban Stories Lesson. You will be using the notes that you make to identify context of time and place, representation of the city and how power, poverty and conflict is represented in the film.
